School counseling degrees allow you to serve as an elementary, middle, or high school counselor depending on your area of specialization. Also available are positions in vocational schools, colleges and universities. Another alternative is to pursue a PhD rather than a master’s degree.
There are several career options open to those who have obtained a Counseling degree, ranging from marriage and family counselors to addiction experts. Additionally to the many specialities within counseling, some graduates use their skills to other employment roles in a variety of other sectors outside the subject of counseling.
The role of a school counselor is to give students and clients with academic, career, and mental health counseling. In addition to working at K-12 schools, they may be found in colleges and universities, adult education and development centers, and other facilities that are involved in education and continuous development.
