Homebase stores will be opening with “strict controls” in place to keep staff and customers safe. Stores temporarily shut due to the coronavirus crisis at the end of March, despite Homebase being named as an “essential” retailer.
Branches in Seven Kings, Merton, Wimbledon, Croydon and New Southgate are to be shut, the company has announced. The firm said it would try to redeploy affected staff. The latest restructuring comes on top of a store closure programme the retailer has been carrying out since February.
Homebase has confirmed that its stores will be open as usual for the bank holiday . It means shops are open from 9am until 6pm Monday to Saturday.

Hilco ownership On 25 May 2018, it was announced that Homebase had been sold by Wesfarmers to turnaround specialists Hilco, for a nominal one pound sterling. Hilco took ownership of the business on 12 June 2018. All 24 stores converted to the Bunnings format were rebranded back to Homebase .
McGloughlin said that Homebase , which has been owned by Hilco since 2018, has delivered strong sales growth throughout the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Homebase said it hopes to build on the more than 10,000 new product lines added in the last two years, introducing new and expanded ranges by working with brand partners.
