Richmond Park is fully open to cyclists once again, five months after restrictions were put in place. Cycling in the popular west London green space has been limited since March, when park management banned people from riding through the park due to concerns about coronavirus.
Cycling is still banned in Richmond Park while pedestrians are allowed to use the green space.

A large volume of cyclists , observations of cyclists speeding or without helmets, fears of transmission through exhalation of air and excess burden on the NHS were amongst the key reasons that the Royal Parks made the decision to ban cyclists from Richmond Park , an FOI request reveals.

Located just a minutes’ walk from Richmond train station, Pools on the Park lido, is a great spot to watch life go by and enjoy a cooling swim on a hot summer’s day.

Richmond Park is open to vehicles from 7:00 am in the summer and 7:30 am in the winter. Vehicle gates close at dusk all year round. Pedestrian gates are open 24 hours except during the deer cull in November and February. During these months, pedestrian gates open at 7:30 am and close at 8:00 pm.
A cycling ban in Bushy Park has been overturned by community campaign. Campaigners fought to reinstate the 500-metre long passage, connecting Bushy Park from Hampton Village, Teddington , Kingston and Hampton Court, to be used as a dual-path again for both walkers and cyclists , after it was banned in April 2016.
Richmond Park is a fantastic, if hilly , place to run.

If catching the tube (District line) or train (National Rail) your destination is Richmond Station. From the station, go directly out the front and catch the number 371 or 65 bus to the pedestrian gate at Petersham.

Go for a Walk on Richmond Park’s Tamsin Trail There are several walks within Richmond Park , but the biggest and the most popular is the Tamsin Trail which goes around the edge of the park . The trail is great for spotting deer as it makes its way past some of the deers ‘ favourite places within the Richmond Park .
There are now two toilet blocks within Isabella, one near Still Pond, and one by Peg’s Pond gate. The toilet at Still Pond is open between April and November, the toilet at Peg’s Pond gate is open year round. Both have wheelchair accessible cubicles.
