Richmond Park is fully open to cyclists once again, five months after restrictions were put in place. Cycling in the popular west London green space has been limited since March, when park management banned people from riding through the park due to concerns about coronavirus.
The visitor centre at Richmond Park is situated in the open square in front of Pembroke Lodge, by the car park . It is staffed by Friends of Richmond Park volunteers and is open every day , except Christmas day , volunteers permitting.
Sometimes the deer may be injured and some are even killed during the fights for supremacy. There are 2 culls in Richmond Park – the males in February and the females in November. In Bushy Park , however, the male cull takes place in September and the female cull in November.
Richmond Park is open to vehicles from 7:00 am in the summer and 7:30 am in the winter. Vehicle gates close at dusk all year round. Pedestrian gates are open 24 hours except during the deer cull in November and February. During these months, pedestrian gates open at 7:30 am and close at 8:00 pm.

A large volume of cyclists , observations of cyclists speeding or without helmets, fears of transmission through exhalation of air and excess burden on the NHS were amongst the key reasons that the Royal Parks made the decision to ban cyclists from Richmond Park , an FOI request reveals.
There are seven well-known wonders of the world, but the folk of Richmond know there is an eighth – the natural wonder that is Richmond Park . Did you know that the pedestrian gates to this stunning space never close? That’s right, the gates are open all night to walkers and cyclists.
All buildings and substantially enclosed structures within The Royal Park estate are smoke -free areas. The Royal Parks ‘ playgrounds are primarily designed for children to enjoy and they are also designated as smoke -free.
Go for a Walk on Richmond Park’s Tamsin Trail There are several walks within Richmond Park , but the biggest and the most popular is the Tamsin Trail which goes around the edge of the park . The trail is great for spotting deer as it makes its way past some of the deers ‘ favourite places within the Richmond Park .
Grass snakes are present in the park and, although a population estimate has not been conducted, juveniles are seen regularly and they therefore breed well. Like all reptiles they are ‘cold blooded’ which means they cannot regulate their own body temperature.

Dogs are welcome in all the Royal Parks although there are some places where they are not allowed or should be kept on a lead . In Bushy Park and Richmond Park you should keep your dogs away from the deer. The Royal Parks are for everyone to enjoy.
