CHARLES Gordon-Lennox, 11th Duke of Richmond , sits on a fortune of £215m and is the driving force behind the Goodwood Revival. More than 450,000 people attended the three-day event in West Sussex, some dressed in period costume to enjoy the extravaganza of automotive nostalgia.
Before taking over the management of the Estate, he was a successful advertising photographer in London and continues his photography career as Charles March . He married the Hon. Janet Astor, daughter of the third Viscount Astor, in 1991 and they live in Goodwood House with their children.

Goodwood House has been the home of the Dukes of Richmond & Lennox for over 300 years. The 1st Duke of Richmond was the natural son of King Charles II and his French mistress, Louise de Keroualle.

On 15th June 1815 , a ball took place in a coach house adjoining the Duke and Duchess of Richmond’s temporary home in Brussels . Known as the Duchess of Richmond’s Ball, it was to become one of the most famous parties in history. Napoleon had escaped from exile on Elba and was now restored to power in France.

Goodwood Racecourse is a horse- racing track five miles north of Chichester, West Sussex, in England controlled by the family of the Duke of Richmond, whose seat is nearby Goodwood House.
